Writ for General Election signed

On October 8, the Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, authorised the 2008 General Election by signing a writ instructing the Chief Electoral Officer, Robert Peden, to hold an election. The event was the last that the Governor-General undertook in Government House Wellington prior to its closure for a three-year Conservation Project.
