Chatham Islands regional visit

  • <span class="title">Haupupu National Scenic Reserve </span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, visited the Chatham Islands' Haupupu National Scenic Reserve and its famous Moriori dendroglyphs cut into living kopi trees.
  • <span class="title">Kopinga Marae</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, visited Kopinga Marae where the Governor-General planted a tree to mark their visit to the Chatham Islands.
  • <span class="title">Chatham Islands Heritage and Restoration Trust launch</span><br/>During their visit to the Chatham Islands, the Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, attended a reception to officially launch the Chatham Heritage and Restoration Trust.   • <span class="title">Pitt Island Visit</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, met members of the Pitt Island community as a part of their visit to the Chatham Islands. They are pictured with the community at Pitt Island School - the most easterly located school in New Zealand.
  • <span class="title">Chatham Island Taiko Trust</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, visited the Taiko Reserve and members of the Chatham Island Taiko Trust as a part of their visit to the Chatham Islands. The Trust is working with the Department of Conservation to save the Chatham Island Taiko (Magenta Petrel), one of the world's most endangered seabirds with a total world population of about 120 individuals.
  • <span class="title">Church Service</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, joined a mixed congregation for a church service led by Father Bernard Golding at St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Church as a part of their visit to the Chatham Islands.

In December 2008, the Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, made a regional visit to the most eastern part of New Zealand, the Chatham Islands.
